It's here - the weekend we've all been waiting for. After a merger between Gastown and Yaletown football clubs, the Iron are fielding two teams in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League in 2012-13, competing in both the Second and CAT 'B' Divisions. The merger has had Vancouver talking since July and the bigger and better G.F.C. will reveal itself to the world on Saturday as the whole club is in action.

Punters from all over the lower mainland will have the chance to watch Gastown as the bid toward greatness begins on the turf at Trillium Park as the CAT takes on old Ultra League rivals the Vancouver Greencaps at 4:00pm. Shortly thereafter the Div 2 squad will be taking a considerably longer journey, leaving the confines of the downtown core to take on Dasmesh FC Tigers at 6:00pm on Surrey's finest pitch: Newton Athletic Park. Following a successful offseason which saw the Iron splash out on serious hugs and handshakes and very little cash in the transfer market, both teams will be hoping to get off to a positive starts.
